Santa Isabel Nets 6-5 Win Versus Termales
|
The rain could not keep the home crowd from enjoying a good ballgame.
The Santa Isabel Corceles faced a tough opponent in Coamo pitcher Urso Cabrera, but still scratched out a win at Estadio Graciano Figueroa by a final score of 6-5 in 12 innings. Cabrera went 7 innings and allowed 5 runs. Santa Isabel reliever Allen Roy was the winner. His record is now 2-1. Frank Rivers took the loss.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the 12th, with the game tied, Peleo Lara was at the plate when Santa Isabel scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Corceles to go in front, 6-5.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Coamo manager Melchor Herrera. "But we decided not to take it."
Santa Isabel currently is in third place in the Liga Betances Metro Sur at 52-51.
