Ilustres Lose Versus Utuado, 6-2
|
Utuado Arribenos starter Casiodoro Torres turned in a top-notch performance against the Barranquitas Ilustres at Parque de los Arribeños. The result was a win for the Arribenos, 6-2. In 8.2 innings, Torres surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 3. He allowed 2 runs. Utuado has won 3 straight, while Barranquitas has lost 3 in a row.
Manuel Escobedo had a big bases-clearing double for the Arribenos in the bottom of the third inning. With Utuado leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a cutter from 16-year old left-handed pitcher Sandalio Rocha and swatted a double to left. It was his 11th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Arribenos ahead, 4-0.
"A confident pitcher is a dangerous thing," said Utuado manager Desiderio Arias. "That's what Casiodoro is right now."
