Rio Grande had no answer for Santa Isabel Corceles starter Abdías Payán, who flummoxed Cotorras hitters as the Corceles cruised to victory, 7-1. After today's action, Santa Isabel sits at 47-50, while Rio Grande falls to 58-37.

The standout performance belonged to 18-year-old Payán. With his baby face, he looked more like someone starting for a high school team than for the Corceles. His performance, however, was nothing short of top-notch. The youngster dominated the Cotorras, striking out 5 and scattering 4 hits over 9 innings. Payán is now 11-12 on the season.

"Abdías is a tough competitor," said Santa Isabel manager Paulino Salmerón.
