10-1 Loss Extends Hormigueros Skid
|
Patillas starter Rubén Meza kept the Hormigueros hitters in check, while his team cruised to a win, 10-1. Meza, now 15-5, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 2, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Patillas now sits at 66-31, while Hormigueros falls to 41-57.
Santiago Tinajero had a big 3-run home run for the Cuervos in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Patillas leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a sinker from 21-year old right-handed pitcher Alfonso Pérez and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Cuervos on top, 5-1.
"We're in a little funk right now and we've just got to get ourselves out of it," said Hormigueros manager Fulco Díaz.
