González Throws 1-0 Shutout
|
The Yauco Corsos did little to support starter Aimar González against the Ciales Galanes, but it turned out he didn't need the help.
The right-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Galanes, striking out 3 and surrendering 7 hits. The performance from González allowed Yauco to escape with the 1-0 win, despite an anemic offense.
"Nobody came to me and said, 'Aimar, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," González told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."
In 21 starts this year, González has posted 8 wins while suffering 8 losses. He has pitched 166.1 innings, allowed 151 hits, struck out 78 and has a 3.14 ERA.
