Caciques Win Nail-Biter in 10
|
Orocovis turned a good effort from starting pitcher Rory Beveridge into a win over the Yauco Corsos at Coliseo Carlos Mujica. The final score was 1-0 in 10 innings. The Caciques sit in third place in the Liga Betances Centro with a record of 44-51.
Up to bat in the bottom of the tenth, 18-year old left fielder Benedicto Velasco had a chance to be the hero. Yauco pitcher Paulino Montes wanted to foil that plan. But with two outs, Velasco drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Caciques had themselves a thrilling win.
"This kind of game is tough on the heart," said winning manager Germán Pérez.
