Las Piedras and Toa Alta put this game in the books despite some rain.
The Toa Alta Poetas wasted an impressive 8-inning effort from starter Leonardo Coronado, falling, 1-0, to the Las Piedras Menestrales at Parque de los Menestrales. Natán Quintanar got the save, his 10th in 17 chances.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Menestrales had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when right fielder Juan María Estévez hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Leonardo Coronado and made the score 1-0, Menestrales. Estévez was 1-3.
"It's no secret that good defense follows around people who throw strikes," said Las Piedras manager Sebastián de León.
The Menestrales are now 48-42.
