Lecheros Get Better of Mercaderes, 8-3
|
Bayamon registered a win at Campo de los Lecheros by beating the Villalba Mercaderes, 8-3. Pitcher Alfie Allen was one reason why the Lecheros triumphed. In 8.2 innings, Allen surrendered 10 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. He allowed 3 runs. Bayamon's record now stands at 34-46, placing them third in the Liga Hostos Metro Oeste.
In the bottom of the first, Bayamon first baseman Tibulo Cruz whacked a splitter to right-center for a 2-run double. His 10th double of the season put the Lecheros in front, 2-0.
"I'm not out there for personal accomplishments," Cruz told a Bayamon News reporter after the game. "I'm out there to help the team win, and that's what we did today."
