Coliseo de los Valencianos hosted an old-fashioned pitchers' duel.

Juncos starter Apolonio González kept the Aguas Buenas offense from doing much damage. The left-hander leaned on his curveball in leading the Valencianos to a 2-1 win. González, the winner, moves to 6-9. He threw 9 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 1 and giving up 2 walks.

Tied up with the Mulos in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Valencianos got a boost from right fielder Gabriel Tamayo. With a runner on 3rd, Tamayo saw a 1-1 sinker from Florián Sandoval and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Juncos on top, 2-1.

"It's not about individual awards," Tamayo told a Juncos Herald reporter after the game. "It's about winning championships. That's what we play for."

The Valencianos sit in third place in the Liga Betances El Yunque with a record of 37-42.
