Guabaleros Thwart Picudos, 2-1

The Comerio Guabaleros rode a solid performance from 20-year-old starting pitcher Faro Medina to a win, beating the Ceiba Picudos, 2-1, at Estadio Tomás Morel. Medina yielded 1 run over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 2, and struck out 7. His record improves to 10-9. The loss makes Ceiba 34-44.
Gilberto López, who is tied for 10th in the LB in bases on balls with 47, took Ceiba hurler Kane O'Leary deep in the bottom of the fifth. His solo home run put the Guabaleros on top, 2-1. In all, López had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"Faro was able to execute his pitches," said Comerio manager Glauco Fernández. "Simple as that."
