Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Barranquitas Ilustres and Las Piedras Menestrales.

Barranquitas starter Faustino Piñeda put the Las Piedras offense in a vise grip. The left-hander relied heavily on his cutter in leading the Ilustres to a 3-1 win. Barranquitas is now 32-40, Las Piedras 41-34.

Piñeda ran roughshod over the Las Piedras lineup. The left-hander allowed just 4 hits over 9 innings, while striking out 6. With the victory, he goes to 9-9 on the season.

Barranquitas manager Belisario Mesa commended his team for "banging out a nice win."
