Sabana Grande beat Guayama on the strength of starting pitcher Abilio Nava's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 6-3. Nava yielded 3 runs over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 0, and struck out 4. His record improves to 7-8. At 24-40, the Tejedores are currently third in the Liga Hostos Suroeste.
Eduardo Martín had a big 2-run triple for the Tejedores in the bottom of the third inning. With Sabana Grande leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a curveball from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Basilio Martínez and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 3rd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Tejedores ahead, 4-0.
In comments to the Sabana Grande Gazette, Nava insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.
