In a low-scoring affair between the Villalba Mercaderes and the Naranjito Brillantes, pitcher Tafari Mungai was the difference between victory and defeat. The Villalba left-hander earned kudos in the 3-2 Mercaderes win. The winner was Mungai. He threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball. The loser was Celedonio Gómez. Tomás Domínguez had a critical at-bat with one out in the top of the sixth for Villalba. He came through with a run-scoring single to put Villalba in front, 3-0.
