Cayey and Toa Baja duked it out and the Cornupetas came out victorious.

Cayey pitcher Florentino Cruz had a large part in his team subduing the Toa Baja Jinetes, 4-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. Cruz yielded 2 runs over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 5, and struck out 1. His record improves to 4-5.

Diego Cabral dealt the Jinetes a blow in the bottom of the fourth. Batting with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Cayey leading 2-0, Cabral hit a 2-0 fastball for a 2-run single.

"Main thing is I want the team to win," Cruz told a reporter after the game. "Just have to go out there, take care of my job, and give my team a chance to win."

The first-place Jinetes dropped to 38-22.
