Márquez Powers Heroes Offense
|
The Guatire Heroes defeated the Cumana Atunes, 7-2, at Parque de Cumana. Arturo Márquez, who is tied for 10th in the LE in doubles with 5, was a standout performer for Guatire. His 4 hits included 2 singles and 2 doubles -- this in addition to the 2 runs he scored and 3 he knocked in. Despite the win, Guatire, now 7-18, is off to a terrible start.
Amadís de Jesús had a key at-bat with two out in the top of the fifth for Guatire. With the bases loaded and the Heroes leading 2-1, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
"If we keep hitting the ball well, the wins will pile up," said Guatire skipper Dick McBride.
