The San Juan Metropolitanos welcomed the Salinas Pescadores to an afternoon game at Coliseo Carlos Chávez.
The San Juan Metropolitanos knocked off the Salinas Pescadores, 6-1, in Liga Betances action at Coliseo Carlos Chávez. San Juan pitcher and Arecibo, Puerto Rico, native Matías Aparicio had an outstanding performance. Aparicio, now 1-1, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 0, walking 4, and allowing 1 run.
San Juan used the timely hitting of Judá Guzmán to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Metropolitanos on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Aparicio. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
San Juan goes to 4-4.
