The San Juan Metropolitanos got a strong performance from pitcher Edmundo Canales, who stymied the visiting Las Marias Citricos en route to a win, 10-2, in Game 2 of the Serie Preliminar. The Citricos could never get a bead on the right-handed Canales, who threw 9.0 innings of 8-hit ball. The Metropolitanos now hold a 2-0 in the best-of-5 series.

Macario Rangel had a clutch at-bat with one out in the bottom of the sixth for the Metropolitanos. Coming up with runners on 2nd and 3rd and San Juan trailing 2-1, he hit a 2-run single.

"It's a mindset," said Canales. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."

Game 3 is scheduled for Monday at El Naranjal in Las Marías.
