Calderón Now 6-8 After Subduing Corceles
|
The first-place Salinas Pescadores took on the Santa Isabel Corceles in front of a spirited crowd.
Salinas Pescadores pitcher Efraín Calderón whisked his team past the Santa Isabel Corceles, 3-2. Salinas now sits at 31-26, while Santa Isabel falls to 21-34.
The standout performance belonged to 19-year-old Calderón. With his baby face, he looked more like someone starting for a high school team than for the Pescadores. His performance, however, was nothing short of top-notch. The youngster dominated the Corceles, striking out 8 and scattering 5 hits over 9 innings. Calderón is now 6-8 on the season.
"Tough loss," said Santa Isabel manager Paulino Salmerón. "But that's how the cookie crumbles."
