Almost There: Rio Grande On Cusp of CLL Triumph After 7-6 Win
The Rio Grande Cotorras went into extra innings against the Patillas Cuervos but ultimately moved to within one game of the Campeonato Nacional Puertorriqueño. The Cotorras downed the Cuervos in a 17-inning walk-off at Recinto Atlético del Noreste by a final score of 7-6. Rio Grande left-hander Carmelo Castillo had a commendable performance. He threw 13.2 innings of 10-hit ball. The win gives the Cotorras a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Campeonato de las Ligas.

The decisive blow was delivered by Sam Rigby in the bottom of the 17th when he hit a run-scoring double off 20-year old right-handed pitcher Zenón Alvarado to win the game for Rio Grande. The home crowd went nuts.

"This place went bonkers at the end," Rigby said.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Recinto Atlético del Noreste in Río Grande.
