Rio Grande starter David Marrero turned in a competent performance at Estadio de Santa Isabel as the Cotorras beat the Santa Isabel Corceles, 7-6. In 9 innings, Marrero surrendered 11 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. He allowed 6 runs.

Rio Grande got the win thanks to a clutch hit from Marcos Michaca. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Cotorras ahead, 7-6. Though it was his only hit in 1 at-bat, it had a major impact on the outcome.

In postgame comments to the Rio Grande Herald, Marrero said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."

Rio Grande currently is in first place in the Liga Betances El Yunque at 35-20.
