Raucous Campo Atletico de San Benito Crowd Propels Cuervos to 2-0 Victory; Series Tied at 1

The Patillas Cuervos got a complete game effort from starter Armando Rodríguez to move into a 1-1 tie with the Rio Grande Cotorras in the best-of-7 Campeonato de las Ligas.
The Patillas right-hander went the distance at Campo Atletico de San Benito, cooling off the Rio Grande Cotorras and striking out 17 to help Patillas take the 2-0 win that knotted the series.
Rodríguez, a native of Luquillo, Puerto Rico, was dealing all game. He kept Rio Grande hitters off-balance, while giving the Cuervos 9 quality innings. Rodríguez threw 117 pitches, allowing 3 hits and striking out 17.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Rodríguez. "Successful pitchers do it."
Game 3 is scheduled for Thursday at Recinto Atlético del Noreste in Río Grande.
