Interleague Series Goes the Distance, Buffalo Prevails
|
The Buffalo Hopper Boys players streamed onto the field at Buffalo Silo in jubilation, while heads were hung and few words were spoken in the Utica Half Moons clubhouse at the conclusion of the Interleague Series.
In a series that had a bit of everything and went the distance, Buffalo won the final game 7-4 and the series 3-2.
"It's hard to describe what we're feeling right now," said Buffalo left-hander Alejandro Urbina, whose strong pitching performance in the series garnered him MVP honors. "You square off against a good team like Utica and anything can happen. Both teams deserved to go on, but thankfully it's us."
For the series, Urbina had a 0.50 ERA over 18 innings pitched. He added 5 strikeouts with a 2-0 record.
The Buffalo Hopper Boys will play against the Irondequoit Peach Kings in the next round. Irondequoit won their series against the Mentor Rose Stockings 3 games to 0. The Pennant Series schedule will be announced after the Interleague Series finishes.
