The Hormigueros Romeros knocked off the San Juan Metropolitanos, 7-4, in Liga Betances action at Estadio Capitolino. Hormigueros pitcher and Cataño, Puerto Rico, native Alfonso Pérez had an outstanding performance. Ricardo Elías nailed down his 8th save. Hormigueros goes to 26-28, San Juan to 28-26.

Hormigueros used a well-timed hit by Aimar Heredia to capture the win. The catcher socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Romeros ahead, 5-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"Alfonso pitched his heart out," said Hormigueros manager Fulco Díaz.
