Rio Grande got a big-time effort from pitcher David Marrero, but it wasn't enough to keep the Canovanas Chupacabras from winning the game, 4-3. Marrero threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Canovanas's record now stands at 21-30, placing them third in the Liga Betances El Yunque.

The Chupacabras got a big hit from third baseman Álvaro Alberganza. In the bottom of the sixth, Alberganza smacked a 2-run home run off Rio Grande pitcher David Marrero. It was his 1st home run of the season. Suddenly, the Chupacabras were ahead, 4-3.

"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Rio Grande skipper Remigio Rodríguez.
