A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Mayaguez Capitanes and Adjuntas Santos.
The Mayaguez Capitanes picked up a win at Estadio Hernán García, knocking off the Adjuntas Santos, 7-2. On the mound for Mayaguez was right-hander Sílvano Flores. He played a key role in the triumph. In 8.1 innings, Flores surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 6. He allowed 2 runs.
Mayaguez center fielder Ángel Rodríguez contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fourth. With two down, he hit a fastball to left field for a 2-run single. It was his 29th hit of the season and put the Capitanes ahead, 4-0.
"We came in and did what we needed to do," said Mayaguez manager Samuel Castillo.
The third-place Capitanes now have a win-loss record of 22-26.
