The Toa Alta Poetas picked up a win at Estadio de Yabucoa, knocking off the Yabucoa Dulceros, 6-1. Starting pitcher Tulio Zapata was a big reason why. Zapata, now 7-1, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Yabucoa has now lost 4 consecutive games.
The Poetas took advantage of an error in the top of the first inning. Toa Alta was leading 1-0 when Héctor Ruesga hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Poetas in front, 2-0.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Toa Alta manager Báquides González.
