Win Lifts Maduritos to 55-36
|
The Corozal Maduritos locked up a win at Parquecito de Corozal, knocking off the Orocovis Behiques, 5-1. On the mound for Corozal was right-hander Cristóbal Romero. He played a major role in the triumph. Romero, who is tied for 10th in the LJP in innings pitched with 195.1, went the distance for Corozal. He gave up 1 run on 8 hits. The win puts the Maduritos at 55-36, while the Behiques drop to 50-39.
The Maduritos got a big at-bat from first baseman Martín Piñeda. For the game, Piñeda was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Corozal a 3-1 lead.
