Guevara King of Fling with No-Hitter
|
The Isabela Jerezanos were just hoping for a solid outing from Cresencio Guevara. Instead, they got something special.
The 22-year-old hurler tossed a no-hitter against the Anasco Guerreros, helping the Jerezanos take the 3-0 win.
"I felt good throughout the game," he said after his spectacular outing for the Jerezanos. "As I was going into the ninth inning, I wasn't nervous. I knew I had a chance to do something special."
Guevara's repertoire has a changeup, fastball, sinker, and cutter, and he used it all to full advantage, keeping the Anasco hitters off balance all game long. The Isabela hurler fanned 4 and walked 1 in his history-making performance.
"His changeup looked about the size of a watermelon seed and it hissed at you as it passed," Anasco manager Zacarías Robles joked after the game.
Checking out his stats for the year, Guevara has racked up 7 wins and 12 losses in 21 starts, posted a 4.37 ERA, and struck out 97 batters in 173 innings.
