Brumosos Absorb 2-1 Home Loss
|
Villalba and Cayey played a hard-fought contest.
The Cayey Brumosos wasted an impressive 9-inning effort from starter José García, falling, 2-1, to the Villalba Banqueros at Parquecito de Cayey. Ernesto Silva, the winning pitcher, improved to 13-8. He pitched 8.1 innings, giving up 9 hits and 1 run, while striking out 9 and walking 0.
Villalba took the lead, 2-0, on Carlos Sauceda's 10th home run of the season. The solo home run came off Cayey pitcher José García in the top of the eighth.
"Not enough offense on our side," lamented Cayey manager Jesús Ruiz.
The Banqueros now own a record of 44-33.
