Fajardo Drops Another One, 9-4
|
Luquillo picked up a win at Parquecito de Luquillo, bumping off the Fajardo Camorristas, 9-4. Pitcher Ernesto Sánchez was a major reason the Comecocos emerged victorious. In 9 innings, Sánchez surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 6. He allowed 4 runs. The 12th-place Camorristas have lost 6 consecutive games.
Antonio Martín had a big 2-run double for the Comecocos in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Luquillo leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a sinker from 19-year old left-handed pitcher Jaime Marrero and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 17th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Comecocos ahead, 4-0.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Martín said.
