Bagnall Leads Manati to 3-0 Win Over Vega Baja
|
The Manati Hoplitas did little to support starter Jonathan Bagnall against the Vega Baja Dulzones, but it turned out he didn't need the help.
The right-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Dulzones, striking out 8 and surrendering 2 hits. The performance from Bagnall allowed Manati to escape with the 3-0 win, despite an anemic offense.
"Nobody came to me and said, 'Jonathan, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Bagnall told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."
To date, Bagnall has a 6-10 mark in 18 starts with a 3.50 ERA. He has given up 129 hits in 149.1 innings, struck out 127 and issued 54 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .234 batting average against him.
