Testarudos Handle Sabaneros, Nab 5-4 Win
|
Parquecito de Cidra was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Aguas Buenas Testarudos and Cidra Sabaneros.
The Aguas Buenas Testarudos faced a tough opponent in Cidra pitcher Cristón Cantú, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Parquecito de Cidra by a final score of 5-4. Cantú went 5 innings and allowed 3 runs. Vicente Villarreal picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 7-11. Diomedes Ávila, who is tied for 9th in the LJP in saves with 4, was tagged with the loss.
Aguas Buenas used a clutch hit from Florencio Perea to get the win. The designated hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Testarudos ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Perea said after the game.
The Testarudos raised their record to 27-39.
