Palomas Win Serie Preliminar
|
The Cidra Palomas triumphed 3-0 over the Naguabo Navegadores at Estadio Juan Gil in the Serie Preliminar to capture it 3-1.
The victory advanced the Palomas to the Serie Eliminatoria.
For his superb play in the series, Palomas third baseman Eduardo Quiñones garnered the series MVP trophy, hitting .462, scoring 2 runs and batting in 2.
"Only thing better than getting MVP for winning in the playoffs would be winning MVP for winning in the Campeonato Nacional Puertorriqueño," Quiñones said later. "I'll get to work on that."
The Cidra Palomas don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Catano Guardacostas - Hatillo Canarios series. Hatillo leads the series 2 games to 1. The Serie Eliminatoria schedule will be announced after the Serie Preliminar finishes.
