Sheffield Talons starter Neil Hughes took the mound against the Derby Rams at Derby Stadium; and, when all was said and done, the right-hander led his team to an extra-inning, 4-3 win. Picking up the save was Pedro Hernández. He's now 1 for 1 in save chances. Sheffield is 56-71 and Derby, with the loss, 49-78.

Damien Petty drove in one run for Sheffield. In a tie game with one out in the top of the 18th, Petty came through with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It put the Talons in front, 4-3.

"This is a resilient bunch," said Sheffield manager Ismael Laboy.
