Stone Skippers Edge Past Sugar Beets, 2-1
|
The Mackinac Island Stone Skippers got a rain-soaked win over the Bay City Sugar Beets.
The Mackinac Island Stone Skippers beat the Bay City Sugar Beets, 2-1. Mackinac Island pitcher and Wilmington, North Carolina, native Bert Cunningham led the way. The 4th-place Stone Skippers sport a record of 57-72.
Had Corey Hall not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Hall hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Stone Skippers.
Hall attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
