Citadels Nip Engines, 2-1
|
The Kingston Citadels earned a close win over the Oshawa Engines, thanks in part to Carl Leah. The Kingston right-hander, who is tied for 9th in the EGLA in innings pitched with 283.2, played a key role in the 11-inning, 2-1 victory. Leah, now 15-16, was the winner. In 11 innings, he gave up 11 hits, while striking out 2, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. The Citadels raised their record to 64-65.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Kingston catcher Tommy McKelvie, facing Warren Way, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Citadels the 2-1 win.
"It's a thrill to get that kind of win," Leah said.
