Zips Make Commodores 5-2 Losers

The Meadville Zips got a strong performance from pitcher Nick Andrews, who stymied the Erie offense en route to a win, 5-2, at Erie Naval Yards. The winner was Andrews. He threw 8.1 innings of 4-hit ball. The loser was Quirino Rodríguez. Kid Gleason notched his 1st save in 1 chances.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the seventh, with the game tied, Leoncio Aponte was at the plate when Meadville scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Zips to go in front, 1-0.
Said losing manager Bobby Attwood: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
The Zips win now puts them at 58-67.
