Brown Hurls Rochester to Shutout Win
|
"Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.
Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting.
Brandon Brown of the Rochester Lilac Stockings proved the point at Perennial Blooming Park, holding the Oswego Hydropathists to 3 hits in a complete game shutout victory.
"Brown made us look real bad today," Hydropathists manager Casto Tavera said in a postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."
Brown had 2 strikeouts and gave up 1 walk as the Lilac Stockings took the 1-0 win.
This year, Brown has compiled a 11-10 record with a 1.60 ERA in 26 starts.
