5-Hit Blitz by Sarnia's Hamlyn
|
Getting 5 hits in a game doesn't happen every day, so it was a special occasion for Roughnecks's Ron Hamlyn at Slammers Park. Hamlyn put up a 5-for-5 line against the Oshawa Engines, swinging the bat with authority all day despite his club's eventual 6-4 loss.
"I'm just out there to try and help the team win," Hamlyn said after the game. "I had some real good at-bats. I made good, solid contact and luckily no one caught 'em. I had a great day, but it's disappointing to lose."
Disappointed or not, he still gets his name in the record books. Ron Hamlyn doubled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI triple in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This season, Hamlyn is swinging the bat at a .313 rate with 114 hits in 364 at-bats. To date he has hit no home runs, scored 31 runs and driven in 30.
