In a low-scoring contest between the Superior Whalebacks and the Duluth Zeniths, 39-year old left-handed pitcher Juan Torres proved to be the difference. The Superior left-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-1 Whalebacks win. Torres, now 8-11, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 3, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Superior is now 40-42, while Duluth is 46-40.
Aldo Fuentes hit a 2-run triple off Ángel Martínez in the top of the sixth, which put the Whalebacks in front, 2-0. Fuentes had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 4.
