Silva Tosses 1-0 Shutout
|
The Aibonito Limbers struggled at the plate against Banqueros hurler Ernesto Silva, who shackled them on 3 hits while hurling a complete-game 1-0 shutout.
"What can you say? We didn't hit well," said Limbers skipper Bernabé Vargas in postgame comments. "Hopefully we shake this off and bounce back tomorrow."
Silva finished the game with 4 strikeouts and 1 walk in an excellent mound performance.
"He pitched real well," Villalba manager Zacarías Flores said. "Ernesto made pitches when he had to. He hit his spots and did a great job of mixing in his changeup and using his fastball effectively."
To date, Silva has a 11-2 mark in 14 starts with a 1.77 ERA. He has given up 95 hits in 122 innings, struck out 85 and issued 28 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .217 batting average against him.
