Belicosos Victors, 6-4, at Naguabo
|
In the 6-4 Carolina win over Naguabo, the impact of Arnulfo Contreras was substantial. Contreras, who is tied for 2nd in the LJP in RBI with 51, hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Carolina pitcher Esteban Ávalos got the win. He's now 2-4. Redmond Brier was tagged with the loss. The Liga José Padilla División Rosendo Matienzo Cintrón-leading Belicosos have a record of 32-19.
Carolina used the timely hitting of René Espinosa to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Belicosos on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"This is a very good team," said Contreras. "We have the chance to do something special."
