Malditos Defeated, 8-6, After Carolina Rallies
|
Thanks in large part to designated hitter Atanasio Aguirre, the Carolina Belicosos clipped the Naguabo Malditos, 8-6, in 10 innings. Aguirre was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. Colm Banks picked up the win with 9 innings of work. He allowed 5 runs on 7 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 7-6. Próspero López, who is rated as the 94th best prospect by BNN, earned the save for Carolina.
The game was all tied up in the top of the tenth, until Aguirre delivered big-time for Carolina, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Ángel Aguilar. The game-changing hit put the Belicosos on top, 6-5.
"We didn't let this one get away," said Aguirre.
Carolina is now 26-24, Naguabo 25-25.
