Sabana Grande Grabs 7-5 Road Win
|
The Sabana Grande Tejedores faced a tough opponent in Villalba pitcher Tafari Mungai, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Estadio de Villalba by a final score of 7-5. Mungai went 5.2 innings and allowed 1 run. Luis Vilca notched his 1st save of the season. Villalba drops to 4-2.
Eduardo Martín had a big 2-run triple for the Tejedores in the top of the third inning. With Sabana Grande leading 4-1 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a changeup from 20-year old left-handed pitcher Efraín Barreiro and swatted a triple to left-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Tejedores ahead, 6-1.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Martín, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
