8-7 Fieles Win over Romeros Evens Season Record
|
Acón Cruz had a hand in Lares defeating Hormigueros by the score of 8-7. Cruz went 3 for 4 at the plate, scoring 1 times and driving in 2 runs. Cristóbal Sánchez got credit for the save for Lares. It was his 3rd of the year. The first-place Fieles have a one-game lead in their division.
Mike Sharp had a big 3-run home run for the Fieles in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Lares leading 4-3 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a fastball from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Tito Barrientos and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Fieles on top, 7-3.
"You can't hate how you win if you win," said Lares skipper Mario Carrasco.
