The Ponce Hidalgos pinned a convincing loss on the Cabo Rojo Maravillosos, 9-3, at Parquecito de Ponce. Rolando Herrera was a main factor in the win. He was 3-4 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs for Ponce. John Burry, the winner, improved to 7-2. He held Cabo Rojo to 3 runs on 6 hits over 5.2 innings, while racking up 6 strikeouts. Marcos Ochoa locked down his 1st save.

In the bottom of the first inning, right fielder Martín Martínez had a 3-run home run for Ponce. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Hidalgos on top, 3-0.

In comments to the Ponce News, Martínez admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."

Ponce is in 7th place in the Liga Mariana Bracetti División Lola Rodríguez de Tió with a record of 18-21.
