The Salinas Pescadores topped the Yauco Corsos by a score of 5-2. Leading the way was shortstop Eurípides Solís. Solís was 3-5 with 3 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Pescadores. The winning pitcher was Carlos Horcasitas. He's now 7-2. He went 9 innings, allowing 2 runs on 12 hits for the Pescadores. The third-place Corsos have dropped 4 straight games.
Salinas used the timely hitting of Ernesto Rodríguez to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Pescadores on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Solís told the Salinas Chronicle.
