The rain could not keep the home crowd from enjoying a good ballgame.
Arecibo got a valiant performance from pitcher Wayne Harper, but it wasn't enough to beat the Catano Canoneros. Catano won the game, 2-1. Harper threw 9.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. With this game in the books, Catano is 15-14, Arecibo 12-17.
With runs few and far between, the Canoneros had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Catano came in the top of the first inning, when 22-year old left fielder Lorenzo Santillán delivered a run-scoring single. The single was hit off Wayne Harper and made the score 2-0, Canoneros. Santillán went 1-3 with a walk.
"Clutch hitting plus clutch pitching usually equals a win," said Santillán.
