Ortiz at His Best, Blanks Ponce
|
Carlos Ortiz hurled a fine game for the Maricao Ristretti at La Tacita, holding the Ponce Hidalgos to 6 hits in a shutout win.
"When he started out, his command wasn't that good, but he's a tough guy," Maricao manager Heliodoro Dávalos said. "The more pitches he throws, the better his command is."
The right-hander had 4 strikeouts and 1 walk in the 6-0 victory.
"An outstanding job," Ponce manager Héctor Guamán said. "We couldn't get anything going. Every time we got a hit, he got out of the jam. He pitched a terrific game."
In 6 starts this year, Ortiz has fashioned a 4-2 record and a 1.33 ERA.
