"Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.

Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting.

Dagoberto Arredondo of the Winchendon Rocking Horses proved the point at The Toy Store, holding the Newport Pilot Whales to 5 hits in a complete game shutout victory.

"Arredondo made us look real bad today," Pilot Whales manager Pablo Morales said in a postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."

Arredondo had 4 strikeouts and gave up no walks as the Rocking Horses took the 1-0 win.

Currently Arredondo has a record of 13-11 with 68 strikeouts and 47 walks in 217 innings and a 2.94 ERA.
